FOUND - Live at Limbo

BAFTA winning FOUND are amongst the finest that Scotland has to offer at the moment. Everybody in Edinburgh should know who Found are by now and just about everybody in Edinburgh loves them, too.  Found started out when the original trio met at Art College in 2002, swelling to a quintet (with the addition of Alan Stockdale on drums and Gav ‘Fudge Fingas’ Sutherland on keys) for a couple of years towards the tail end of the decade and then stripping back to the original threesome at the start of 2010.

Found’s sound is difficult to pin down, mainly because they don’t want to be pinned down!  Found have a thirst for exploring the outer sonic reaches of the (pop) musical galaxy while making your head nod and, often your feet shuffle. So, while their first and second albums saw the band tagged as ‘nu folk’ by the press, they’re as likely to hit you with some healthy beats and rock out on stage. Ultimately, though, they have a unique charm, which could only be the result of these musicians working together: Ziggy Campbell (lead vox, guitar), Tommy Perman (bass guitar, synth) and Kev Sim (sampler, melodica). If you’ve never seen Found play before, you’re in for a treat.

‘FOUND sound like a punch up between Paolo Nutini and Captain Beefheart’ (The News Of The World)

‘their sound is so progressive, so completely unique, it’s demeaning to tie it to the stale confines of a label. Instead, we should be celebrating the euphoria created by their extraordinary kaleidoscopic soundscapes. 9/10′ (Drowned in Sound)

‘Sampled sounds wrestle it out with jagged bursts of electronica across songs that lurch around like shouty drunks on a week-long bender’ (Q Magazine)
