Mitchell Museum

BIOG:

Mitchell Museum formed in 2009 to share their combined joy of bands that make unusual freakout music that somehow manages to still be pop at its core. It seemed like it would be easy, Verse-Chorus-Verse- DoubleTrackedSuperDelayedSaxBridge-Chorus, what could be simpler? You could just play A Major in variation for 4 minutes. After adopting, disregarding, blending and finally altering these forms of musical production they found what they were looking for.

In 2010 they released their debut album ‘The Peters Port Memorial Service’ on Electra French Records to wide critical acclaim in the national press including:

“Unmissable new band” – NME
“Gloriously eccentric psych-pop” – Uncut
“A lively, auspicious twisted-pop debut.” – The List
“Happy-clappy hooks dovetail with beguiling skill.” – Mojo
“As an album it stands head and shoulders above its peers” – The Skinny
“A dense, but wonderfully tuneful, dream-pop racket.” – The Guardian
A wonderful new band.” – The Sunday Times

After Touring the UK for the remainder of the 2010 , the band holed up to record various EPs and experiment with new sounds. Then in 2011 they took a break as they lost key members of the band from both on stage and behind the scenes. Taking time to decide if they wanted to continue without them and work out a new direction if they did.

After much deliberation they came together with an altered line-up and tried out a few demos and found that the fun they had when 1st trying to make their joyous musical inventions. They are now writing and recording their follow up album and feeling pretty pleased about it.
